Where to buy pumpkins in Oklahoma City

There are three real ways to get pumpkins in OKC: drive out to a patch, grab a few from a grocery or big-box bin, or have them delivered and styled on your porch. This guide compares all three on price, effort and selection, tells you how many pumpkins a porch actually needs, and gives typical prices by size so you know when a deal is a deal.

Patch, store or delivery — which one fits you

Cheapest per pumpkin is not the same as cheapest porch. Once you count admission, fuel, a second trip and the lifting, the three options land closer together than they look. Swipe the table sideways on a phone.

Pumpkin patches & farms

Pick-your-own fields 25–75 minutes outside central OKC, usually ticketed with pumpkins priced by size.

  • Freshest, best-looking pumpkins with stems intact
  • The experience is the point — rides, mazes, animals
  • You can hand-pick shapes and colors
  • Admission adds up fast for a group
  • A styled porch takes 15–30+ pumpkins, which is more than one trunk holds
  • Nothing is delivered, staged or hauled away afterward

Watch out: Weekend afternoons in mid-October are the busiest hours of the season; go on a weekday morning if you want photos without a crowd.

Grocery, big-box & garden centers

Bins of orange jacks and pie pumpkins at supermarkets, warehouse clubs and home-improvement garden centers across the metro.

  • Cheapest per pumpkin, no admission and no drive
  • Easy to grab mums, gourds and hay at the same stop
  • Available all October
  • Little size or color variety, so displays look flat
  • Bin pumpkins are often bruised or stemless from handling
  • You still lift, arrange and dispose of everything yourself

Watch out: Specialty varieties (white Lumina, blue-green Jarrahdale, warted heirlooms) sell out early or never arrive at all — the bins are mostly standard orange jacks.

Porch delivery & styling (us)

Real patch pumpkins, straw bales, corn stalks and mums delivered and arranged on your porch in one visit.

  • Mixed sizes and specialty varieties in one order
  • Crew places and styles the display; staging included on larger packages
  • Optional post-season removal so nothing rots on your porch in November
  • Costs more than a bin of orange jacks
  • Six delivery weeks between October 1 and November 7, not same-day
  • Standard pricing is limited to our six service ZIPs

Watch out: We only deliver inside six central OKC ZIPs at standard pricing; nearby towns pay a travel fee and later delivery weeks sell out first.

How many pumpkins you actually need

Most porches look thin because of count, not budget. A small stoop needs 8–10 pieces in three different sizes; a standard suburban porch with a full step run needs 18–30 plus a straw bale or corn stalk for height. Buy odd numbers, mix in two or three non-orange pieces, and keep everything off bare concrete so it lasts into November.

Common questions

When do pumpkins go on sale in Oklahoma City?
Grocery and big-box bins usually appear in the second half of September, and area patches open late September into early October. Specialty varieties like white Lumina and blue-green Jarrahdale are the first to disappear, so buy those in the first two weeks of October if you want them.
How many pumpkins do I need for a front porch?
A small stoop reads well with 8–10 pumpkins in three different sizes. A standard suburban porch with a full step run needs closer to 18–30, plus a straw bale or corn stalk for height. Groups of odd numbers in clearly different sizes always look better than a matched row.
Is it cheaper to buy pumpkins yourself or have them delivered?
Buying a few bin pumpkins yourself is cheaper. Once you want 20+ pumpkins in mixed varieties, patch admission, fuel, two trips and the lifting close most of that gap — and delivery includes the styling and optional post-season removal.
How long do pumpkins last on an Oklahoma porch?
Six to ten weeks if they stay dry and off the concrete. A pumpkin sitting flat on damp concrete can soften from the bottom within a week, so set them on a bale, a board or the edge of a mat.
Do you deliver pumpkins outside central Oklahoma City?
Our six central OKC ZIPs get standard pricing. Nearby towns like Edmond, Yukon, Moore and Norman can order with a travel fee tier added at checkout.
