Classic orange & heirloom porch ideas

The traditional look reads best when it is layered rather than lined up. Start with two straw bales at different heights on one side of the door, then stack large jacks against them, fill the middle with medium jacks and specialty heirlooms, and scatter pie and mini pumpkins along the step edges so nothing looks placed in a row.

Styling tips for this look

All-white & neutral porch pumpkin ideas

White ghost pumpkins and sage-green heirlooms need contrast to show up, so lean on texture instead of color: straw bales, a dark door, black lanterns, or a woven basket. Keep the palette to two or three tones and vary the pumpkin sizes hard — big, medium, tiny — so the tonal display still has depth from the curb.

Accents that finish a porch display

Pumpkins alone can look scattered. These four pieces add the height, color and texture that make a display read as designed — each one can be added to any package.

Porch pumpkin questions

How many pumpkins do I need for a front porch?
A small stoop reads full with about 9–10 pumpkins. A standard suburban porch with steps and columns usually needs 30 or more plus two straw bales, and estate entries with a double staircase take 70+.
How do you arrange pumpkins on porch steps?
Work in a triangle: tallest element (bale or jumbo pumpkin) on one side of the door, medium pumpkins cascading down the steps, and minis at the bottom edge. Cluster in odd numbers and vary sizes inside each cluster.
What decor goes with porch pumpkins?
Straw bales for height, corn stalk bundles at the columns, potted chrysanthemums for color, and lanterns for evening light. All four are available as add-ons with any Porch Punkin package.
How long do uncarved pumpkins last outdoors in Oklahoma?
Uncarved pumpkins typically hold from early October into late November here, which is why our post-season removal runs in late November. Carved pumpkins last closer to a week.
Should I mix white and orange pumpkins?
Both work. Our Classic Harvest collection already mixes orange jacks with white ghosts and heirlooms; the All-White & Neutral collection stays tonal. You can also add individual orange jacks or white ghosts a la carte to either.

Want the look without the hauling?

We deliver real patch pumpkins to six Oklahoma City ZIP codes in Thursday–Saturday windows from October 1 through November 7, and our crew can style the display on site.
